Melanie was born on August 7, 1951, in Mobile, Alabama. Shortly after birth, she moved to Lima, Peru, and later to Quito, Ecuador. In her early years, she spent time excavating pre-Columbian sites with her mother. This exposure, along with the vivid colors of the Andes and the exotic animals of the region, inspired her style. For Melanie, this visual stimulation was especially profound as she was born hearing-impaired.
Melanie has lived in Key West, Florida on and off since the 1960's. Her work has been exhibited in London and California and can be seen in Galleries in Key West.

Hello Melanie: A friend and I purchased your artwork from your stand on Mallory Square in Key West in September 2009. We really enjoy your work and I was pleased to find that you had a blog spot.

Hi Melanie!
My husband and I purchased four of your pieces. They are looking so good put up in the house. I love your work and expression. It was so nice meeting you at the Square. Take care.
I met you last night at the square, my husband and I bought two pieces. We love them and cannot wait to see you next year when we visit.
Hi Melanie!,
I met you about four years ago in Mallory Square. I love the colors in your artwork. I walked right over to your stand and fell in love with the 'Two Cats'! Hope to see you next time I visit.
Thanks
